Greg's shitty weather nerd challenge - Response: Mail-it-in Edition

After nearly convincing me to risk life and limb for a nerd game on Saturday (which I declined only after I started driving), Greg issued a challenge to attempt to paint something.

Seeing as I haven't picked up a brush since about August, I figured this was a good opportunity to remember how bad at this I actually am. I picked a heldrake (for some fantastic reason, I assume) and some beer.

I started with this:

And by the end of the day, had actually gotten this far:

I hate yellow...
Word from the experienced... The filigree on the Heldrake is fucking stupid! Thank god I didn't glue the wings on before I started. I probably would have tried to make it fly...

Case Study: Filigree - fucking stupid

Yellow: Also stupid.
Sometimes I wonder why I do this to myself.

So clearly, not done, but this was infinitely more work over the course of a day than I've done in the last 2 months, so screw you guys. At least I did something.

  1. I had to google filigree... Why do you use such fancy words?

  2. Cuz it makes me sound smrter. Also, I wouldn't have used it if that smarty-pantz Steve Brown hadn't used it in a conversation last week about his Heldrake.

For what it's worth, the gold is still just in its basecoat form. I still need to do another coat or two plus a wash. There's still a fuck-ton of work to do on this thing. (And yes, that's a technical engineering term.)

  3. Metric Ton = 1,000 Kg
    Imperial Ton = 1,016.04691 Kg
Shit-Ton = more than the above
    Fuck-Ton = ∞?
